Why Tithe?
Malachi 3:8-12
8 “ Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘ In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings.
9 You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me, Even this whole nation.
10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the LORD of hosts, “ If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.
11 “ And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” Says the LORD of hosts;
12 And all nations will call you blessed, For you will be a delightful land,” Says the LORD of hosts.

Yet we have robbed God's Spirit. We have been given the Holy Spirit to guide us in our giving, but instead, we look to the Old Testament to teach us how to give. We are robbing ourselves and God of the blessing he's given us in his spirit.I believe it is not wrong to tithe but i don't think specific portions should be commanded from anything else besides the Holy Spirit.
3 Questions I have for those of the opinion that 10% isn't necessary:
1. Is 10% really too much? Can't we find a way to live comfortably on 90% of what we earn?
2. What scriptural evidence supports the idea that 10% isn't required anymore? Does this mean the Old Testament has less value or doesn't count anymore? Didn't the Holy Spirit lead the writers of the O/T as well? Does that mean the Holy Spirit HAS in fact given us specific portions?
3. MILLIONS of churches in North America, yet there are still people who have yet to hear The Name of Jesus, still widows not being taken care of, still orphans not taken care of, stll have the poor & thier children not being taken care of? THE NEED is there, but all these churches across the US DO NOT have the resources to take care of these basic callings from The Bible?
