God's Armor Bearer by Perry Nance

For Elevate, we're reading "God's Armor Bearers" by Perry Nance. I just read a section where the author had met with one of the servants of Billy Graham's Crusade Team. The crusade coordinator said he had been with Billy Graham the least amount of time of all the people on his team. 23 years!

This made me do a serious spirit check! With all the promises, hopes and dreams I have for work in the ministry, am I ready for the possibility that I will serve under Pastor Dino for DECADES? We all dream of leading something, directing something, "owning" something. Am I humble and mature enough to commit to serving God's Kingdom without being "the man?"

I look at the INCREDIBLE staff we serve at Healing Place Church. I know of at least 5-7 people on our staff that could start a new church or take over a church and do just fine. But, in the 6 years that I've served at HPC, I've never heard even a HINT of a desire of these A-List servants under Pastor Dino talk about branching out on their own.

What an excellent example of Armor Bearers these guys and gals on staff at HPC have been!

Biting my tongue!!!!

Just saw a morning news story about several prominent TV Evangelist and an Elected Official (Senator or Representative) that is requesting financial records for improper spending or use of those finances.

With the National Debt at $9 TRILLION, which was created by our elected officials, are they really the best people to criticize other people's spending habits?

Can somebody say, "You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye." Luke 6:42

I better stop there. I feel the Holy Spirit leaving my mind the more I think about it....... (Biting my pillow, trying not to loose my salvation over this ridiculousness....)

Checking In

Its been an unusual couple of months. We're a little understaffed at work with retirements, promotions and medical leaves taken. I've been working alot of overtime. Nonvoluntary overtime. Nothing worse than being FORCED to go into work on your days off. Well, that's a little exageration.

That makes Elevate a little tough. I think I've made 3 or 4 classes in the last 3 weeks. But, I begged them not to expell me. I think it'll work out.

Jada got sick during the cold front. That didn't help with Elevate either. She's doing much better and she should be clearing up soon.

Brandi and I are doing great. We're taking each day and each event as best we can. Overall things are good.

God is faithful.
